This is a great dessert, snack, or a perfect holiday gifts for your friends and family. I have loved having these chocolate discs in my hot chocolates, and adding these to my coffee to make a perfect and quick mocha.

What will you need to make these super simple Chocolate discs?

Chocolate chips/ bars of your choice– I made this recipe using all my leftover chocolates. it was a mix of milk and dark chocolates. You can simply use dark chocolate bars/ chips or milk chocolate.

If you are using the leftover chocolates to make this interesting recipe, make sure not to include any chocolate with caramel, because that will make the chocolate discs sticky and they won’t come out well.

A pinch of salt to accentuate and balance the sweetness of chocolates.

Butter– Adding butter to the chocolate gives it a perfect glaze, and adds more richness to the chocolates. It will also help to hold the chocolates better when you refrigerate them.

Toppings– I added some crushed pistachios, almond flakes , goji berries and dried rose petals to my chocolate discs. These could be substituted with any nuts and fruits of your choice.

Step by step to make the chocolate discs

Line two trays with the muffin liners and keep aside.

Melt the chocolates using a double boiler. To make a double boiler at home you would need two pans of different sizes. One big pan to hold hot water, and another smaller pan that can fit in the bigger pan.

Heat water in the big pan. Add chocolates in the smaller pan, and keep it inside the big pan. Keep stirring the chocolates.

Add butter , salt to chocolates and mix well. Once the chocolate and butter mix well and chocolates melt, take it off from the big pan.

Pour a tbsp of chocolate in each muffin liner to form the discs. Immediately add the toppings while the chocolate is still warm . This is done to ensure that the toppings hold well to the chocolates.

Keep the trays in the fridge for approximately 30 minutes till the chocolate solidifies.

Once the chocolates are done, take them off from the liners, and the chocolate discs are ready.

Extra Tips

  • Adding some cashews and dried cranberries instead of goji berries makes it more festive. Add some pecans, raisins and Sultanas, or dried raspberries or coconut chips .
  • If you are making it for kids adding some sprinkles is a great idea.
  • To make it more festive, or if you are gifting it to someone you could add some edible glitter to make these sparkly. Sticking edible gold or silver foil makes this look really indulgent.
  • Adding a bit of vanilla extract enhances the flavour of these chocolate discs. Chocolates and orange is a smashing flavour, so instead of vanilla adding some orange extract and some orange zest will give it a perfect citrus twist.
  • Adding a tiny bit of salt flakes will enhance the taste of these chocolate discs.

The options with this recipe are infinite. It ends where your creativity ends.
