Ingredients required and substitutes to make this quick tuna tacos recipe?

Wraps

I used asda wheat and corn tortillas . You can use any tortillas as per your choice. To make this gluten free, replace the regular wraps with gluten free wraps.

Tuna tacos filling

For the tuna filling you need the below

Tuna – I used canned tuna to make these. I always have a few cans of tuna to make quick tuna sandwiches, toasties or a filling for wraps, and other tuna recipes.

If tuna is not available, other canned fish like sardines can be a great substitute.

Vegetables– I used onions, peppers and sweet corns to the filling mix to add crunch.

If you do not like peppers or sweet corns you can avoid adding it , and just add onions, with rest of the spices.

Green chillies– Using green chillies is optional, but it adds loads of flavour. It doesn’t make the filling very spicy, as i added just two small chillies.

You can use the big green chillies that are not very hot.Small green chillies are much more hotter and spicier.

Mayonnaise dressing recipe for Tuna tacos.

The creamy mayonnaise dressing is a mix of mayonnaise, greek yoghurt, horseradish sauce, mustard sauce, lime juice and some sweetener.

Mustard sauce and horseradish sauce– These two sauces add so much punch to this dressing and go really well with fish flavours.

Greek yoghurt- I use store bought greek yoghurt. If you do not have greek yoghurt , you can use hung curd. This needs to be prepared in advance as it takes time .

To make the hung curd, simply sieve the normal curd through a muslin cloth.

Leave it to hang for 4-5 hours , so that all the water squeezes through it.

Once all the water is squeezed out, you can use the curd for your dressing.

Sweetener– I used dates molasses as sweeteners. It has a very distinct taste and flavour. It can be substituted with honey or maple syrup.

Food52 has a very interesting article on molasses and their substitutes, incase you want to know what is the best substitute for the date molasses, refer to this article.

Crunchy salad and toppings for the tuna tacos

For the salad and toppings you need onions, tomatoes, coriander, salt , peppers, lemon juice and grated cheese.

Sriracha sauce is a great addition to these tacos with tuna . This sauce is spicy, sweet, garlicky sauce. However if you do not want to use Sriracha this can be substituted with a chilli or hot sauce.

But if you have sriracha, just drizzle that .

Here is the link of the Sriracha sauce that i use.
